Promotional site for children’s book author and illustrator Matthew McElligott.

This site had to organize a large number of pages, so we split the content into main categories in the navigation bar and created folding sub menus that appear when clicking the main menu items.

The site features a searchable blog which Matt uses to record the events at his author visits. This write ups help prospective author visit clients see what Matt can do and what schools can do in preparation for the visit.

There are also several Flash animations throughout the site. On the Books pages of the site, animations and movies bring Matt’s illustration techniques to life. In the Games and Activities area of the site, there is a Flash MP3 player to listen to “Backbeard’s Pirate Radio,” and games highlighting the educational themes of several of Matt’s books. This site was a lot of fun to build. Tracey created a lot of original illustrations for the navigation and backgrounds of the site so we could make it feel like her artist sketchbooks. We also created animations from Tracey’s illustrations.
